There are some people who use the internet to hunt
children.
They want to show children offensive pictures and
may use the internet to contact children in order
to hurt them.
They often pretend to be children but are usually
adults.
There are also a lot of websites that are not safe.
Keep to these rules.
Never give out your address or telephone number
or email address without your parents' permission.
Tell your parents or a trusted adult
right away if you come across anything on the internet
that makes you feel uncomfortable. Talk to
Never agree to get together
with someone you "meet" online.
Never send a person your picture or anything
else unless you know them.
The best way is to talk with your parents or caregivers
or a trusted adult about rules for going online.
You can also talk to them about the Hector Safety Button. This is part of the Internet Safety Group project and is an easy-to-use safety button that can help protect you while online. You can read about it here).
