Dear parents
It seems that the problem of keeping
our kids safe is an every increasing one.
Statistics are showing us every year
that child abuse is on the rise.
Everyday, innocent children are being
hurt. It is our worst nightmare to think that this
could happen to our children.
There
is a whole new world for kids on the internet.
If your child is not "online" already,
he or she may soon be joining the millions of children
who are.
(Note - while not part of the KidsKeepSafe project,
the Internet Safety Group have lots of information about safety while online. Visit their website here).
Statistics also show us that 95%
of children who are abused, are abused by someone
they know and trust.
As a concerned parent, I encourage
you to explore this website and then help your
children to find their way around it. Discuss each
point with them. Present them with different scenarios
and talk through how they should respond.
There is no doubt that if children
practice to keep themselves safe, they are much
more likely to do so in a real situation.
We have a set of cards that children
love to get that are an empowering tool to help
your children keep themselves safe. Please email
us so we can send you a free set. We are happy
to send you more than one set, however, there will
be a charge if you want more than one set ($5 plus
postage). Any donations would be appreciated.
Email David Goodwin david.kidsreach@gmail.com for
your set. Please note our privacy
policy.
This website is brought to you by
Kidsreach, a charitable trust operating in New
Zealand, Australia and Sri Lanka. For more details,
